The SMART Living Laboratory, which is part of the Power and Energy Systems Laboratory, is a statutory member of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL). ENoLL offers opportunities for synergy and collaboration with other European Living Labs for joint research activities and joint submission of research proposals. In addition, SMART LL is part of the educational activity of the inter-foundational Postgraduate Studies Programme (MSc) of the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia, Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Cagliari, and Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Cyprus, entitled “Master of Science (MSc) in Smart Grid Technologies. This MSc is self-financing and therefore part of the resources can be used for the maintenance and development of the laboratory equipment as a whole.

The Power and Energy Systems Laboratory will use its state-of-the-art equipment (SMES, HIL, microgrids) to attract resources for research activities related to the Fair Development Transition Programme in the Region of Western Macedonia through the submission of research proposals in calls related to its area of expertise. Finally, the Power and Energy Systems Laboratory will participate in any research proposal submission of the Department of EEMY in European and national research projects and will be able to offer services to companies, industries and NPOs.
